The Anderson Group has twenty years executing distribution investments.

Includes 7 total distribution investments in the Food & Beverage Industry.

I ran three separate investments for Anderson, so I know this group very well and can speak to their strategic involvement, operational knowledge and, most importantly, their character. This is a proven team of professionals who do what they say they will, do it well, and do it right.

Sample Investments:

  • Partnered with second generation ownership/management of a growing broadline food distribution business. Moved to a strategic location that supports growth and closed five acquisitions to date. Company remains in our portfolio.
  • Recapitalized a regional pharmaceutical distributor in partnership with the founders and management. Embarked on a growth plan that included expansion into new service offerings and market segments. Company remains in our portfolio.
  • Acquired a home textile products business that was operating at a considerable loss. Completed a restructuring that involved facility consolidation and product line exits, restoring profitability. Sold to a financial buyer.
  • Acquired an aerospace component distribution business from inactive ownership. Recruited a senior leadership team to develop a long-term growth plan. Company remains an active investment.

Partnering with The Anderson Group has been extremely helpful in building our business. Not only was Anderson effective assisting us in the recapitalization and restructuring of our business when we first became partners, but they have also helped me position our business for sustainable long-term growth, with no end to our partnership in sight. I enjoy the opportunity to work with a group whose sole focus is to create shareholder value over the long term, not to rapidly flip our business to the highest bidder.

Private Equity Case Studies

Wetsel, Inc.

Wetsel Inc. was a leading United States east coast distributor of lawn and garden products sold as branded or private label through retail channels to some of the largest lawn & garden stores.

Situation at the Time of The Anderson Group’s Investment: Although Wetsel showed signs of revenue growth, it was neglected/mismanaged by its large and financially troubled corporate parent resulting in numerous operational/strategic inefficiencies.

Anderson Value Add: Anderson partnered with the management team to carve the business out of the corporate parent and execute a turnaround strategy, implementing the following initiatives:

  • Expanded marketing budget and efforts
  • Redirected sales force to focus on new business
  • Implemented inventory control systems
  • Branded the ‘Wetsel’ name
  • Implemented strategic pricing improvements
  • Launched an online platform

Outcome: As a result of these efforts, Wetsel generated consistent profitability which, supported by a strong balance sheet, yielded considerable cash distributions to shareholders throughout the hold period. After eight years of ownership by Anderson, Wetsel was sold to a strategic acquirer.
